ISCA-SAC: Open Doors (September 3, 2018)

Today the Open Doors event organized by ISCA’s Student Advisory Committee (ISCA-SAC) took place at Interspeech 2018 in Hyderabad. The Open Doors event aims to bring industrial research and academia together. Two groups of young researchers visited Genesys and Microsoft India Development Center to learn and discuss about products and related technology.

ISCA-SAC: 4th Doctoral Consortium (September 1, 2018)

Today the 4th Doctoral Consortium organized by ISCA’s Student Advisory Committee (ISCA-SAC) took place at the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H). This year, 18 doctoral candidates had the opportunity to present and discuss their research with the following panel of experts from academia and industry:

Forensic Linguistics (July 22-26, 2018)

Happy to have joined the summer school on Forensic Linguistics held for the first time on July 22-26, 2018 at the University of Cologne, Germany and organized by the Student Council for Linguistics and Phonetics of the latter. The short course focused on authorship profiling and attribution, discourse analysis, as well as language and meaning. It was led by Isabel Picornell (QED Limited), Ria Perkins (Hapax Consulting Ltd & Aston University), and Nicci MacLeod (Aston University).

Speech Prosody 9 (June 13-16, 2018)

We presented our paper Convergence of Pitch Accents in a Shadowing Task at this year’s International Conference on Speech Prosody held from June 13 to 16, 2018 at Collegium Iuridicum Novum, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. Our talk was part of the session on prosody and discourse together with contributions by Štefan Beňuš and colleagues as well as Margaret Zellers and Antje Schweitzer.

Many thanks to SimPhon.Net in cooperation with the Stuttgart Research Focus Language and Cognition for having us at the workhop on psycholinguistic, cognitive and neurolinguistic modeling in phonetics and phonology. We had a great time both during the scientific discussions and when exploring the beautifully situated University of Hohenheim!
