The Workshop on Accommodation in Speech Communication organized by Elisa Pellegrino and Volker Dellwo for the University Research Priority Program Language and Space at the University of Zurich was a unique opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas among the accommodation community. We heard inspiring invited talks by Rivka Levitan (Brooklyn College CUNY), Jennifer Pardo (Montclair State University), and Antje Schweitzer (Stuttgart University).
Our talk was part of the session on accommodation in human-machine interactions together with contributions by Rivka Levitan, Štefan Beňuš as well as Petra Jaecks and Karoline Malchus.

We are looking back on fruitful discussions about our upcoming Wizard-of-Oz experiment at a beautifully organized P&P conference (Phonetik und Phonologie im deutschsprachigen Raum) held on September 6 and 7, 2018 at the University of Vienna, Austria. The conference included a field trip to the Acoustics Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences demonstrating the diverse work going on in Vienna.

Today the Open Doors event organized by ISCA’s Student Advisory Committee (ISCA-SAC) took place at Interspeech 2018 in Hyderabad. The Open Doors event aims to bring industrial research and academia together. Two groups of young researchers visited Genesys and Microsoft India Development Center to learn and discuss about products and related technology.
